How to Edit Request Settings

This article explains how to edit the settings of an existing reference request.

Permissions Required

You can edit request settings if:

  • The Question Profile has the "Allow users to edit request settings" permission enabled, or

  • You are a Team Admin or Super Admin

If you do not have permission, contact your system administrator to enable this setting in the Question Profile.

Steps to Edit Request Settings

  1. Navigate to the Requests page

  1. Click on the request you want to edit to open the request details

  1. Click the Actions dropdown button (displayed with an arrow)

  1. Select Edit Request from the dropdown menu

  1. The Edit Request Settings dialog will open

Editing Settings

The Edit Request Settings dialog is organised into five sections, accessible via the sidebar:

Basic Settings

  • Number of references requested (1-10)

  • View the candidate's next reminder date

  • View or cancel Digital ID Verification status

  • View DBS Check status

Verification Settings

  • Disable verification for candidates

  • Disable verification for referees

Reference Settings

  • Prevent personal email addresses for professional references

  • Required reference range (years)

  • Require evidence for employment gaps

  • Ignore personal references in range calculation

  • Minimum reference requirements by type (Professional, Personal, Academic)

Communication Settings

  • Disable voice calls for candidates

  • Disable voice calls for referees

  • Reminder schedule settings

Identity Settings

  • Collect National Insurance number and date of birth

Saving Changes

  1. Make your desired changes across any of the sections

  1. Click Save to apply your changes

  1. Click Cancel or the close button to discard changes
