List of Supported Employment Gap Evidence Documentation

When a candidate is providing their references, they sometimes have the option to add an employment gap, to explain the reason they were unemployed during certain time periods.

Depending on the settings in your Question Profile, the candidate may be required to upload evidence to support the reason they chose for the gap in employment.

Below is a list of the default reasons for an employment gap, and the evidence which is requested for each:

Travelling

Evidence for Travelling may include:

  • Official Travel Itinerary from booking provider

  • Stamps in passport with proof of travel

Unemployed

Evidence for Unemployed may include:

  • Government/HMRC documentation

  • Benefits (JSA/Universal Credit/etc) documentation

Studying

Evidence for Studying may include:

  • Course Confirmation

  • Course Certificate

Parenting

Evidence for Parenting may include:

  • A short version of the birth certificate (include parent names)

  • Tax Credits letter

  • Child Benefit letter

  • Adoption certificate

  • Evidence of fostering (this must be recently dated)

Self-Employed

Evidence for Self-Employed may include:

  • Personal tax calculation or computation statement from Government/HMRC

  • Self-assessment tax return

  • Statement of accounts

  • Accountant's letter

  • Annual tax summary

Caregiving

Evidence for Caregiving may include:

  • A note from a Doctor
