Comments allow you to add internal notes and observations about candidates. These notes are only visible to your team members and are not shared with candidates or referees.
Where to Find Comments
Comments are located in the candidate sidebar when viewing a candidate's details. Look for the "Comments" section with a chat icon, which appears below the candidate's basic information.
Adding a Comment
Open the candidate's details by clicking on their name from the Requests page
In the candidate sidebar, locate the "Comments" section
If the section is collapsed, click on it to expand it
You'll see a text field with a placeholder that says "Add a comment..."
Type your comment in the text field
Submit your comment using one of these methods:
Press Enter (without Shift) to submit
Click the send icon (paper plane) on the right side of the text field
Comment Features
Multi-line Comments
The comment text field supports multiple lines:
Press Shift + Enter to add a new line without submitting
The text field automatically expands as you type (up to 5 rows)
Press Enter alone to submit the comment
Comment Display
Once posted, comments appear with:
Author avatar: A coloured circle showing the comment author's initials
Author name: The full name of the person who posted the comment
Comment text: The actual comment content
Timestamp: The date and time the comment was posted (e.g., "15 January 2024, 14:30")
Comment Order
Comments are displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent comments appearing at the top of the list.
Important Notes
Internal only: Comments are not visible to candidates or referees. They are for internal team communication only
Team visibility: All team members with access to the candidate can see and add comments
Persistent: Comments are saved permanently and remain with the candidate record
No editing: Once posted, comments cannot be edited or deleted
Best Practices
Be clear and concise: Write comments that will be useful to other team members
Include context: Mention relevant details like dates, names, or specific situations
Use for important notes: Reserve comments for information that's important for the team to know
Update regularly: Add comments when there are important updates or changes related to the candidate
Professional tone: Keep comments professional and appropriate for team viewing
Common Use Cases
Comments are useful for:
Status updates: Note when a candidate's status changes or important milestones are reached
Team coordination: Share information with team members who may be working with the same candidate
Important reminders: Note follow-up actions or important dates
Context and background: Provide additional context that might not be in the formal candidate record
Communication history: Keep a record of important conversations or decisions
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Comments section
If you don't see the Comments section:
Make sure you've opened a candidate's details by clicking on their name
Check that the candidate sidebar is visible on the right side of the screen
Try refreshing the page
Comment won't submit
If your comment won't submit:
Make sure you've typed something in the text field (empty comments cannot be submitted)
Check your internet connection
Try clicking the send icon instead of pressing Enter
Wait a moment and try again if the system appears to be processing
Comment doesn't appear
If your comment doesn't appear after submitting:
Wait a few seconds - comments may take a moment to appear
Refresh the page
Check that you're looking at the correct candidate
Contact support if the issue persists
Keyboard Shortcuts

Shift + Enter: Add a new line without submitting
