Managing the Number of References Required

When creating a reference request, you’ll be asked to specify how many references you require from the candidate (between 1 and 10).

For example, if you request 3 references but the candidate only adds 2 and they are both completed, the request will remain marked as incomplete.

You can adjust the number of required references after a request has been created by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the RefNow Portal: https://app.refnow.co/

  2. Select the candidate from the list on the left side of the page.

  3. In the candidate’s timeline, click the Actions menu and choose Edit References Requested.

  4. Update the number of required references as needed:

    • Increase if you need more references.

    • Decrease if fewer references are sufficient.

  5. Click Edit to save your changes.
